Meet Tribute: Our Independent Queen
Some goats live for the limelight, but Tribute (affectionately known as Bute) is a fan of the "slow burn." She is one of our more reserved girls, usually found side-by-side with her bestie, Spirit, keeping a watchful eye on the humans from a dignified distance.
Bute’s story took a dramatic turn recently when a nasty eye infection left her blind for 14 days. Suddenly, our shy girl had to navigate a dark world. It was during this time that Bute showed us her incredible resilience.
She allowed us to become her eyes, learning the "language of touch" and the sound of our voices to find her way.
It was a humbling two weeks of intimacy that Bute tolerated with the grace of a queen who knew she needed her staff!
Today, Bute’s sight is fully restored, and she has happily reclaimed her independence. While she’s back to keeping us at arm’s length, the ice has definitely thawed. If you have a treat in your hand, you might just be lucky enough to feel her hooves on your shoulders—a rare and precious "high-five" from a girl who only gives her heart on her own terms.
At Besida, we don’t just rescue animals; we respect their right to be exactly who they are.
