You never truly know what magic will unfold when a new life begins at the sanctuary. Resilience was born right here at Besida, and from the moment she arrived, she has been a force of nature.

She grew with a speed that defied logic. We found ourselves constantly supplementing her mother’s diet, boosting her with extra lucerne just to keep pace with this divine youngster who decided she would outgrow her mom within her very first year. It quickly became clear why her nickname became "Monster."

Nothing about this girl is small:

• Her Presence: Larger than life.

• Her Personality: Fiercely independent and gloriously stubborn.

• Her Spirit: An unyielding desire to remain untamed.

While we cherish our snuggly, "cuddle-bug" goats, there is something truly exquisite about a being who is born into safety and yet refuses to have her fire dampened. Resilience doesn’t need to be "rescued" from her nature; she is protected so that she can be her nature.

That strength, however, comes with its challenges! We still remember the "battle of the hoof" when we had to remove a bontpoot tick. We were drenched in sweat by the time we finished, while Monstie remained entirely unimpressed by our help. She will give us an uphill battle no matter the task, but that is our Monster.

We don’t just care for her; we admire her. She is a reminder that at Besida, "safety" means the freedom to be wild at heart.
