Livvy

Livvy was born from Ardence, one of our first goats who came in pregnant. We were worried about her immediately as she had a prolapse and we assume that’s why she was sold. We knew birth would be extremely complicated. The birth went OK but we lost Ardence two days after Livvy was born.

This was the hardest goat I have ever had to raise. She wanted nothing to do with humans, she refused to take a bottle. Feeding her took at least an hour with every feeding, she was screaming and kicking, refusing to take any milk.

I wasn’t about to let a lamb starve and spend hours with her with a syringe and dropper to get milk in her tummy. Only slept an hour between feedings as our schedule was very tight since she didn’t get much milk in per feeding. After a month of struggling, crying, praying, and begging she finally took the bottle!

That was one of my proudest moments as a goat mom. She warmed up to us and now she is a real mommy’s girl. She is always close by to see if she can have a treat, or even just to say hi. Never in a million years did we think we would get her through that first month. She hasn’t grown much either due to her bad eating habits, but she is now a happy and healthy mini goat. I appreciate every moment with the love this girl gives because I know how close we came to not having it at all.
