aka Nyxs/Nyxxie goat/the Goat

I often feel that we gave Nyx the wrong name. If I had known who she would turn into, I would have named her “Love”. I met her as a young goat, taken from her mom at too young an age, struggling with scours and worms.
We thought at one stage we would lose her, but this girl never gave up and has grown up to be one of the biggest Boer goats at the Sanctuary. She has experienced many challenges during her time with us; she had literally bitten off half of her tongue in some special “Nyx” way, she had consistent bronchial infections for the first year of her life, her baby slit open her udder while nursing, and she has early-onset osteoarthritis.
So this girl keeps us on our toes. We have learned that Nycci responds extremely well to herbal intervention, and thus chemical intervention is only used when it is absolutely necessary.
Although Nyx’s various health challenges might be assumed to be what she is best known for, this could not be further from the truth. Rather, it is how Nyx loves, cuddles, and uses her immense strength with great care and grace. She has the gentlest temperament for such a big goat lady, and I simply cannot get enough of her cuddles.
She loves nibbling faces, chins, cheeks, and clothes and never gets annoyed with a long bear hug. I feel so blessed that our paths crossed with this goat lady. She enriches my life daily… I love you Nycci Goat!
