Storm

(a.k.a. Stormy)

Stormy is a lady with pizzazz. When she puts her hoof down, no goat, sheep or human will purposefully defy her. Although she was not always the leader of the herd, that is who she became. This girl was highly pregnant when we met her, had one of the most severe cases of mange that we have encountered to this day, was malnourished and had no love lost for humans.

Her distrust was palpable and, although she would prefer to back into a corner to avoid interaction, she could just as easily charge with malicious intent. She is a clinical and fearless leader and her herd trusts her to scout out any new camp or sleeping unit.

As cold as Storm can be towards other goats and demand their absolute respect for her status, she is one of the most incredible mothers I have ever seen. She will give to them even when she has no more to give… which nearly happened.

Storm had a really difficult labour and we had to help her with consistent monitoring, supplements, extra food and boosters. Storm has come far and although she doesn’t trust strangers, unless they have extremely tempting fruit and vegetables in hand, she has become loving towards us. There is no better feeling than when Stormy decides it is cuddle time and bows her head for a scratchies.  I love you Stormy!
