I met Chari as a very young goat-girl, having been taken away from her mom at too young an age. She was not a strong girl, she shied away from people and preferred staying hidden behind other animals, but this little girl spoke to my soul the moment I laid eyes on her.

On a farm, Chari would have been culled due to her lifelong struggle with internal parasites that leads to consistent expenses and secondary health problems. Chari is very much part of my life and family and going the extra mile to keep her healthy is never a question.

This goat-girl has become such a strong character in the herd, loves human interaction - on her terms obviously – and I can’t imagine a day going by where I don’t hug and cuddle her. Chari has shown me the sentience this species possesses, the deep love they can feel and the bond that can grow between human and goat.

She is also one of the naughtiest goats here, because she is confident and feels safe, she will explore where she shouldn’t and find any hole to put her nose, and eventually her whole body through. She will find anything to climb onto in order to get to where she wants and pretends not to hear me when I kindly request her to come back to where she should be. The moment she feels unsure though, she makes a beeline to me and demands that all is forgiven immediately – which it usually is. Love you Chaar!
