Enchantment

aka Choo/Choo-Chie/Chewy

Enchantment

This little bundle of joy has been an integral part of my life for a decade. I picked her and her three litter mates up as puppies. This little girl was really struggling to use her hind legs and I decided to adopt her due to the fact that I anticipated quite a lot of health problems and wanted to make sure that she will receive what she needed to have the best possible chance at life.

Choo was the weakest of the litter, shy and withdrawn and I spent hours on the floor with her to try and coach her out of her shell. With the proper nutrition and stimulation she gained full function of her hind legs and soon after, she fell in love with chasing balls. Her whole litter was extremely worm ridden and this aspect was urgently addressed. It was beautiful to see how many health issues resolved itself after good food; deworming and lots of love were introduced to this litter.

She did not initially have a love for humans or dogs but systematically over time this also changed.  The amount of other rescue doggies Chewy has met over her lifespan has left her quite an expert in how to engage with other beings that also have problems. She can be stern but she is fair and although she is small she is easily able to be a leader.

People who met her could not help but indulge her ball obsession and eventually this little girl started taking humans in her stride as well. Chewy turned into the most enchanting little creature, soft natured but strong, insightful and joyous…. and still at 10… always with a ball by her side. Love you little girl.
