Suki is my favorite cat in the world. She is so tiny. One evening late, while on patrol in the pouring rain, this tiny little creature darted across the road into some long grass next to the road. I wasn’t entirely sure what I just saw so I asked the driver to stop. In the pouring rain, I sneaked up to the spot where I saw this wet blob of fur run.
When I eventually got the grass pushed to the side, the tiniest little kitten was staring up at me, scared, alone, and soaking. She didn’t try to run; she didn’t fight me when I picked her up. I assumed she must have been dumped as a feral kitten would never sit for you to pick it up.
Her eyes were caked on from sniffles, she was shivering, but she didn’t make a sound. I found a spare jacket in the car and wrapped her up to get her warm and dry. From that day Suki decided that this was what she wanted her life to be. She was about 5 weeks old according to the vet. She was treated for sniffles and she got one of my old robes to snuggle into.
I still have that robe today. It’s ripped and no longer in one piece, but it’s hers and she still suckles on it 6 years later. I am so happy that I found her that night. She is the most socialized cat; she hasn’t grown very much and is still tiny. But she trails after us while we sort out goats and feed and is always close by.
