Kaylee, Riley and Merlin

These three donkeys are a family that was seized by the SPCA. We do not know much more about their history other than that Merlin and Kaylee were the initial two, and that Riley was born from Kaylee, Merlin is the father.

They were with an elderly lady after they were rescued, and she had to move back to the UK so her children could care for her. She had no idea what she would do with them. After searching she found us and asked if we would be willing to care for them. She was scared that they would be ridden or used to pull carts if they went to anyone else. So, we made space for the three souls.

Luckily the SPCA had already neutered the two boys and we no longer had to worry about unplanned babies. These donkeys have enriched our lives so much. They are always close to asking for treats or just some cuddles. They still have flinch responses with certain movements, which might attest to the circumstances they came from. But they so desperately want to be loved. We will spend the rest of their time here trying to show them that not all humans are bad.
